Once a group has the basics down, the next step is turning it into a driver of local enterprise.
For mature and well-functioning SHGs, advanced grassroots-level training programmes are conducted with the support of NABARD. These programmes are designed to enhance the institutional capacity of experienced groups and prepare them for higher levels of economic engagement — covering enterprise development, livelihood diversification, value addition, market awareness, business planning, quality management, and sustainable group functioning.
Special attention is given to developing local leadership and encouraging SHG members to identify viable livelihood opportunities based on available skills and resources. The programmes also promote peer learning and collective problem-solving, enabling mature SHGs to become stronger community institutions and potential drivers of local development.
