Millet Processing & Preservation Training

A training programme on millet processing and preservation was organized for members of Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) and Producer Groups at the Multi Skill Centre (TTS), as part of the Community Development Activities of Talcher Kaniha. Mr. A. K. Sehgal, Executive Director, NTPC Talcher Kaniha, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, alongside Mr. Navneet Kumar (HoHR), Mrs. Sujata Rath (HR-AGM), and Mr. Jitendra Kumar (Senior Manager-HR), NTPC Talcher Kaniha.

Mr. Sehgal interacted with the participants and highlighted the importance of developing practical, skill-based livelihood activities, particularly those related to millet-based food processing. The WSHG members actively participated in the session and exchanged views on the possibilities of processing millets into nutritious and marketable food products.

Representatives of the CSR team, including Mr. Bhishma Naik of NTPC Kaniha, along with Mr. Mahadev Das of Social Development Foundation, addressed the participants on the growing relevance of food processing and how value addition can enhance the economic potential of locally available agricultural products. Mr. Jitendra Kumar and Mr. Sagnik of NTPC Talcher Kaniha encouraged the participating WSHG members and shared their own perspectives on skill development and livelihood promotion.

The programme was also attended by representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and members of the media, with a formal inauguration that included a traditional ceremonial lamp-lighting by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries on the dais — a platform for building awareness among WSHG and Producer Group members about the potential of millet processing, preservation and value addition.
