Social Development Foundation (SDF) is a voluntary organization committed to the holistic development of grassroots communities and bring about positive and sustainable change in society. The Foundation was established in 2009 and registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, on 21 March 2011, bearing Registration No. ANL-2731/50. Subsequently, the organization was accorded state-level registration, bearing Registration No. 154/1201900066 of 2019–20.
Since its inception, Social Development Foundation has been working with vulnerable and marginalized communities in key areas such as Climate Smart Agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, women & child development, health and hygiene, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development, water and sanitation, social assistance programmes, Entrepreneurship development Programme, rights-based advocacy, and Viksit Bharat -Guarantee for Rozgar & Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) VB-G RAM G, CSR, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
The Foundation has implemented and supported development initiatives across Anugola, Dhenkanal, Balangir, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Kendujhar, Boudh, Khordha, Kataka, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Seraikela Kharsawan & Mahasamund districts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh & Jharkhand etc. in convergence with government programmes and other development stakeholders.
Our interventions focus particularly on strengthening the livelihoods and food security of poor and vulnerable households and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). The organization seeks to enable communities to sustainably improve their livelihoods through the efficient, equitable and self-managed use of natural resources, promotion of farm, off farm and non-farm enterprises, improved access to government schemes and entitlements, and strengthened community institutions.
Over the past decade, the Foundation has worked in partnership with local governments, communities and other development institutions to address barriers at the grassroots level and promote inclusive and sustainable development. Through participatory approaches, capacity building, livelihood promotion and convergence with government programmes, the organization continues to work towards empowering rural and tribal communities to become more resilient.
We have a pool of thematic experts with expertise in sanitation, agriculture, health, and rural development who are well equipped to successfully implement and carry forward development programmes. We actively engage with key grassroots stakeholders, including Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), ASHA workers, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Frontline Workers (FLWs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), in designing and conducting capacity building initiatives such as training programmes, orientations, workshops, and other learning activities.
We also develop and disseminate Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on health and hygiene, agriculture, SHG development, and other relevant themes for user groups and communities at the field level. Through these efforts, we target to strengthen the local capacities, promote community participation, and create sustainable opportunities for women, men, and young people to improve their livelihoods and make better choices about their future.
